Grenada’s Rising Star
Just as Camille's career was on the rise, she would be struck with a family tragedy that changed her life and the course of her career forever. On September 13, 2024, Camille's soca career came to a sudden halt when her spouse, Damian Clouden, better-known as "Brooklyn", fell from the roof of a two-story (20-foot) home in Hillsborough, Carriacou, sustaining multiple life-threatening injuries.
A Model of Virtue, Prosperity, and Resilience in Music and Society

Citing Alison Hinds as her main inspiration, Ms. Camille has been singing Soca, representing Grenada locally and in the U.S. market for the past five years, sharing Grenadian culture on every platform she touches. She has performed at countless gatherings, fetes, beauty pageants, sports games, cultural festivals, the annual Grenada Carriacou and Petite Martinique Day in New York, amongst many other events. Camille has shared stages with some the biggest artists in the soca industry such as Denise Belfon, Destra Garcia, Patrice Roberts, Tallpree, Skinny Banton and many more. She has also done vocal work for local artistes and musicians in the Caribbean region including background vocals for the late Ricardo Drue.
Before taking up a career in music, Camille was an active junior member of Carriacou-owned, U.S based, non-profit organizations who held fundraisers abroad and gave charity to the sister-isles for over a decade. She became a well-known talent, showcasing the Big Drum Nation dance, English Quadrille and Maypole dancing at these cultural fundraising events. In 2017
she also did pageantry and won the second place title at the Miss Grenada USA Queen show. She performed her rendition of ‘Come and See’ by The Country Boys of Carriacou.

To date, Ms. Camille has released ten musical compositions in the Soca and R&B-Fusion genres, including one body of music, (a physical EP titled ‘Sugar Mame’) which sold over 250 copies in 2021, and a total of over 200,000 digital streams of all her music. Just as Camille’s career was on the rise, she would be struck with a family tragedy that changed her life and the course of her career forever. On September 13, 2024, Camille’s soca career came to a sudden halt when her partner, Damian Clouden, better-known as “Brooklyn”, fell from the roof of a two-story (20-foot) home in Hillsborough, Carriacou, sustaining multiple life-threatening injuries. Clouden, a U.S based carpenter, orginally from Carriacou, had flown down from the U.S to assist in the recovery and rebuilding after Hurricane Beryl served widespread catastrophic devastation to the sister isles on July 1, 2024. Each of the couple’s family homes and belongings were completely destroyed, as this powerful hurricane spawned two tornadoes across the islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

Camille, who had just given birth to their eight-month-old infant, found herself in a fight to save Damian’s life, as he suffered multiple skull and facial fractures, traumatic brain injury, internal hemorrhaging, and fractures of the hip socket which allowed the femur to enter his abdomen; all very fatal injuries. In a race against time, while Damian was warded at the General Hospital in St. George, slowly succumbing to his injuries, Camille swiftly took action to charter a medical air ambulance to the United States. After suffering two seizures and a stroke that left Clouden with facial nerve palsy, and a DVT resulting in a pulmonary embolism, Camille took to social media on September 25, 2024 with a Go Fund Me campaign petitioning for $70,000 USD.

As Camille had informed the public that she’d travel to the hospital 2-3 times daily to feed and nurture Damian, while still nursing the infant at home, the community of Grenada Carriacou &
Petite Martinique came to her aid. Several friends, family, and supporters, offered their free time to help with babysitting, cleaning, cooking, feeding, and caring for Damian, allowing Camille to focus on getting the help that her family needed.
Using her influence on social media (with an online following of over 10,000 people), her background in market research, and connections in the American media industry, donations poured in by the thousands in just a matter of days. Along with the help of GBN news outlet,(Grenada Broadcasting Network), her story successfully went viral, attracting hundreds of thousands of viewers across the Caribbean diaspora and the Western world to donate. The National Democratic Congress government of Grenada also made a contribution of $30,000 EC dollars and the supporters of the New National Party General Council donated $3,500 EC. The father of three victoriously evacuated Grenada via REVA Air Ambulance to New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Hospital on October 5, 2024.
Clouden immediately went into surgery, and physical rehabilitation. After surviving his near-death experience, he is said to be progressing each day. Though Damian has been left with permanent hearing loss and hip damage and may need more surgeries in the near future, he is content with his recovery and gives thanks to God for sparing his life.
